A warm welcome back to school - September 2020
It has been a joy to welcome all our children back this term. I heard someone say, "things are the same but different!" This sums it up perfectly for me.
We are still the same school family, enjoying learning together. It's just a bit different this year, we have to keep thinking of new ways to do some of the things we took for granted before. We now record our weekly assemblies, play in our class bubbles, wash our hands lots and have new outside sinks. ...

Ben Smith Visit
The children and staff were delighted to meet marathon runner Ben Smith on Tuesday afternoon. We entered a competition and won a special visit from him. He talked to the children about how he ran 401 marathons in 401 days. Ben explained that he had been bullied at school for 8 years and even suffered a stroke due to his unhealthy life style. One pupil asked him if could go back in time, would he change who he was when he was being bullied? Ben said that...

The prayer tree
During our recent forum, the children discussed having a prayer tree in the school that they could dedicated prayers to say thank you or for their own intentions. Hannah created a questionnaire to ask the children in the school where they would like the tree to be. We then agreed that it would be at the bottom of the school field. Hannah and Emilie then made a 'prayer tree' sign and the children in Year 6 wrote their own prayers. Mrs Cox then blessed the tree...

We will remember them
We were very pleased to read the letter from Major Treffrey-Kingdom in the Royston Crow this week. I was extremely proud of the children who wrote prayers, researched life stories and conducted the whole service themselves. We were joined by Father Philip and members of the parish community, who also commented very postively. The school were all very respectful and prayful and they also sung beautifully. I was touched to read that Major Treffrey-Kingdom had...

Year 4 Cuffley Trip
OUR TRIP TO CUFFLEY CAMP By Annbelle (Year 4)
Cuffley was the best trip of St Mary’s. I enjoyed the way that we still had the teacher’s guidance but we had full control of our opportunities. It was great to be under the stars in our vintage tents, despite the spiders. On the first night I was well and truly amused at Mr Gourd’s campfire. Our trip was incredible!
